The University of Mississippi, or "Ole Miss" is also home to the famed Blues Archive. The archive strives to obrain and preserve as much blues related material as possible. Currently there thousands of audio files, pictures, video tapes, news articles and the like all dedicated to the blues music that is so much a part of Oxford history. For any music lover this collection is a must see.
Designed to cater both to the general public and to the University students, the University of Mississippi Museum houses a great variety of exhibits and collections. It is located on the Ole Miss campus on 5th and University Avenue.

For the best in the natural beauty of the Oxford area be sure to visit Holly Springs National Forest. Among others, you will find the shores of the Choctaw, Puskus, and Chewalla lakes in this forests. Several other water ways run through the area including the Wolf River and Tubby Creek. Among the recreational activities available in the forest are hikes across swamplands and trees, swimming in the fresh, clean water of the lakes, and ample picnic and camping grounds. It´s one of Oxford´s best day trips.
At the center of the city is "The Square". Known for the one of a kind restaurants and shops, the Square is the hub of Oxford life. You´ll find Oxford´s city hall here as well as the nation´s first retail store, the J.E. Neilssen Company.
